Jesus and Satan Out on the Plains
Jesus and Satan out on the plains
both of them living on long-ago fame
They got off their horses, holstered their guns
And talked turn of course to Thy Kingdom Come
“I brought the light and the world was saved.”
“Yeah, but I brought the right to be depraved
where holy commandments are worn and thin
Without ‘God damn it!’ no born again.”
Jesus laughed softly, he’d heard this before:
for there to be peace, there had to be war
And then they heard the whippoorwill call
Jesus thought of his mother, Satan thought of The Fall
Sadness swept over, they started to cry
their tears watered the rivers long run dry
The land became green, there were cities and towns
then the banks overflowed and many were drowned
As ever it was, as ever will be
Darkness and light. We need both to be free
World without end, it’s always the same
Jesus and Satan out on the plains.
Throughout November I am writing a poem a day in an effort to raise money for The Center for New Americans, an organization that is located in Western Massachusetts and does great work in acclimating our new citizens to their new homes.
You may help by going here.
If you appreciate my efforts and my work please share.
Also, most of you know I am moving to Oregon at the end of the year. Before I leave I will bedoing two shows. Both will be in Amherst at the NACUL Center at 7:00 on November 30 and December 7. Proceeds will benefit The Center for New Americans.
Very good!! As long as we are in the 3rd dimension we have duality.
