Illegal Organ Trafficking
I used to earn my pay in a corporate cubicle
Work was OK but a monkey could do it though
I was drinkin’ so bad, that job was killin’ me
They put me in a rehab and then on disability
But a man without a job is like…there must be a metaphor
Smoked a lot of pot, watched a lot of Mary Tyler Moore
My life began to feel more and more a tragedy
Then I got into the field of illegal organ trafficking
You must be motivated to develop this obsession
For me it was a broken leg ‘cause I bet the Jets again
I started out in kidneys, used my own inventory
Now I’m crazy busy, eleven people workin’ for me
Made some connections ‘cause I had some capital
Men in medicine, none of them admirable
Traveled to the third world, there’s more happening
With the boys and girls of illegal organ trafficking
first there’s the harvesting the bargaining for better deals
But that ain’t the worst thing: bitter coffee, worse meals
The filth and dust and occasional abductions.
the betraying of trust of faithful loved ones
Ya gotta weed out some, diseases and things
A lot of tedium in illegal organ trafficking
My eyes are brand new I can see much clearer
Brilliant baby blue – I’m in love with the mirror
New hair, new heart just one final goal
I need one more part: a good person’s soul
Throughout November I am writing a poem a day in an effort to raise money for The Center for New Americans, an organization that is located in Western Massachusetts and does great work in acclimating our new citizens to their new homes.
You may help by going here.
If you appreciate my efforts and my work please share.
Also, most of you know I am moving to Oregon at the end of the year. Before I leave I will bedoing two shows. Both will be in Amherst at the NACUL Center at 7:00 on November 30 and December 7. Proceeds will benefit The Center for New Americans.
